Let an AI agent help, inside limits you set

An AI can work with Bellows from outside, as an agent that edits your documents, or from inside the editor, as an assistant. Either way it makes changes with the same commands you use.

An agent works in one folder, and you can undo what it does

The drawing stands in a folder, and the agent can read and write that folder and nothing outside it. Each slip it sends is one command, such as addObject or setTween. A command that would break the document is refused, and one that goes through can be undone, as the last mark is here.

The agent is off until you press the switch.

Two ways to work with an AI

The MCP server

An AI agent can open, create and edit documents through the Bellows MCP server. It reads and writes one folder and nothing outside it.

The assistant in the editor

The assistant is off until you turn it on. Connect Claude with your own key, which stays on your device, or point it at a model server running on your own computer. Until then the editor makes no network request beyond its own origin.

Setup is a few guided steps

Connecting Claude and setting up a local model are guided screens in the editor. A monthly spending limit is counted on your device and stops requests when it is reached.

Changes are commands

When the assistant changes a document, each change is a command you can undo, and drafts of alt text wait outside the document until you accept them.

Family mode is for a young person's computer

A parent turns it on with a PIN. The assistant then says on screen that it is an AI, shows each change as a plan the young person applies or discards, keeps names, addresses, phone numbers and web addresses out of what is sent and shown, sends no pictures of the drawing, and keeps a log that stays on the computer. The filters are rules that run on the device. They help and they do not catch everything, so a parent should read the log now and then.
